UEFA Nations League Playoffs, Quarterfinals Recap

(MENAFN) The initial matches of the UEFA Nations League playoffs and quarterfinals for the 2024-2025 season have been completed.

A total of eight games took place in the playoff round, accompanied by four contests in the quarterfinals.

In the A/B playoff first leg, Turkey’s national football team triumphed with a 3-1 victory over Hungary, giving them an advantageous position going into the return match.

The crucial second-leg fixtures, scheduled for March 23, will determine which teams move up to League A, with the losing teams remaining in League B.

Similarly, the B/C playoffs will see the winning sides promoted to League B, while the losers will stay in League C.

The outcome of the Netherlands-Spain match will decide which team will join Turkey, Georgia, and Bulgaria in Group E for the 2026 FIFA World Cup European Qualifiers.

The quarterfinal return legs, planned on March 23, will decide which four teams will progress to the UEFA Nations League Finals in June 2025, where they will play for the prestigious title.
